RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation and Exam in Gibraltar and Spain

RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation and Exam in Gibraltar and Spain

Our Yachtmaster Prep 2 week course is designed for students who have all the necessary skills, miles and passages to complete the Yachtmaster exam, but who need that last bit of fine tuning on close quarter boat handling and the RYA way. This is an intensive training 2 weeks which will put you through your paces by sailing onto walls and mooring buoys, sail trim, simulated engine and steering failures, blind navigation, mooring up in tight spots and anchoring under sail. And we haven’t forgotten all those person overboards. You will be expected to have completed the RYA syllabus and have passed both Coastal Skipper Theory and Practical within the last 2 years. If you are short of miles or passages, you should not expect any of this to be part of the Yachtmaster Prep course.

The course is designed to familiarise you with the exam boat, exam area and exam procedures and to correct any bad habits you have. The weeks should be seen as coaching as opposed to training. We will not be teaching you anything you should already know after completing the RYA Coastal Skipper syllabus. Unless you know Gibraltar Bay already, the course is only available as a 2 week slot run over 2 Monday to Friday weeks with the exam being held on the last day by an independent RYA Examiner.
