RYA Coastal Skipper Sailing Course Itinerary
Day 1
Begin the day with a safety brief on life raft, flares, fire and many other emergency situations. Boat handling skills in GibraltarBay. Anchoring practice for lunch. Mooring up practice in the afternoon in the marina.
Day 2
More safety talks before we slip lines. Sailing on and of a pontoon and a mooring buoy. Lots of man overboard and other sailing exercises.
Prepare passage and pilotage plan for new destination
Day 3
Man over board under power and sail; demonstrate you’re on skills skippering the yacht in different situations.
Navigation practice. Night sail for 3 hours.
Day 4
Every day you will do a talk on a safety subject. Practice blind navigation. Passage planning using GPS Chart plotter and charts. Understanding radar .
Engine failure, steering failure.
Day 5
Recap of all sailing skills. Passage back to Gibraltar. Skills and Drills in Gibraltar Bay
Final tune up for your examination if you decide to sit it.
