ROCK Sailing’s Day Skipper Module is ideal for beginners to sailing to spend two weeks with us to gain a Day Skipper Tidal qualification. The course comprises three RYA courses back to back; Competent Crew, Day Skipper Theory and Day Skipper Practical. At the end of the fortnight, you will have three RYA certificates and also qualify for an ICC.
Now you are in a great position to charter worldwide.
Your first week will be spent learning the basics of crewing and helming without the pressure of making decisions. You will learn how sails work, practice some rope work and learn how to moor up safely. Next, it is into the classroom by the marina to learn how to navigate, work out tidal calculations and learn all about the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Theory exam passed, you are ready to put all you have learned into practice on a Day Skipper course. Now you have a chance to act as skipper and make decisions under the watchful eye of the Instructor. You will plan and skipper a short coastal passage either across the Straits or along the Spanish coast and also have some time most days to practice sailing exercises. On one evening you will do a four hour night sail which gives you a chance to practice night passages and port entry.
