RYA Flotilla Training / ICC in Gibraltar and Spain with ROCK

ROCK Sailing’s Flotilla Training Course is ideal for beginners to learn some crewing and skippering techniques prior to a flotilla or bareboat charter . If you are chartering a yacht in the Mediterranean this season, your charter operator will probably require you to have an International Certificate of Competence (ICC). This course gives you the necessary skills to obtain the certificate.

We will teach you the really useful things you need to know for handling a yacht without the guidance of an Instructor, like how to moor up safely alongside and with Mediterranean mooring techniques which are common around our sailing area, how to tie a boat up, what knots to use and how to set an anchor. The course covers basic navigation for non tidal waters so you will learn how to interpret a chart, plan a course and use a GPS Chart Plotter. Safety is also important. Although, on flotilla, you should never be very far from land, you need to know how to radio for help or guidance, safely use a dinghy and pick up a man overboard.

This course will also qualify you for an RYA Day Skipper Non Tidal certificate.

If you want the necessary permit and ability to sail in more challenging tidal waters, you will need a Day Skipper Tidal Certificate. If you have Day Skipper Theory, you can go straight to Day Skipper Practical. If you haven’t, you can join our 9 day combined theory and practical course Express Day Skipper.
