Your ROCK Skippers and RYA Instructors in Gibraltar
Our Chief Instructor Peter has been around boats since he was a boy when he used to go fishing with his dad. A RYA instructor for almost 20 years, Pete has experienced most of the world’s oceans and has challenged all the elements. His numerous sailing qualifications, including RYA Instructor for Yachtmaster , Diesel Engine, VHF Radio, and Sea Survival , make him one of the best qualified sailors in Gibraltar. Pete instructs Coastal Skippers and above and has a innate ability to read his students and build bespoke training programmmes around the individual. With one of the highest pass rates in the industry, you will be put through your paces by Pete but will be an extremely competent Yachtmaster at the end.

Steve retired from business life and opted for Fastrack Yachtmaster life with ROCK in 2012. Once qualified he started the search for a yacht and in 2013 brought Scarlett Lady down to join our expanded fleet.
Jack is a local hero from Gibraltar whose Dad’s yacht is moored next to the Rock yachts. After a couple of years working for the Tourist Board, he had a word in our ear about the Fast Track Yachtmaster course and got funding from the Gibraltar Government instead of going to University. It was a good choice as he quickly progressed to Cruising Instructor. We see Jack as an old head on young shoulders and his cool, calm and collected personality has made him a hit with all who have sailed with him, young and old alike.
Harley is a Kiwi with various incarnations from chef to banker to Cruising Instructor and on to Yachtmaster Instructor. With that laid back Down Under personality, he guides students through the course with enthusiasm. After his teaching skills, his culinary skills shine through and a creative dinner ends the day’s sail. Harley is normally found teaching our Fast Track Yachtmasters and Coastal Skippers but pops up every now and again for Competent Crews and Day Skippers.
Amy trained with Rock Sailing as a Fast Track student and went to work in the Mediterranean the week after she qualified as Yachtmaster Offshore. At the end of the Med season, she became a Cruising Instructor and has worked for us ever since. In less than a year she was a Yachtmaster Instructor. Quite a meteoric rise in a short time.
Simon was a member of the Fire Service until he decided on a career change and trained to become a Yachtmaster. He wasted no time in qualifying as a Cruising Instructor , working for us at Rock Sailing, and became a Yachtmaster Instructor less than a year later. Simon’s calm teaching mode puts everyone at their ease. From Competent Crew to Yachtmaster Offshore, he is unflappable and dedicated.
