July 2015 News from ROCK Sailing

Summer is in full swing and it is HOT. We still have a yacht or two available for family charters during the school holidays. Whether you want to complete an RYA course or just enjoy some sunshine sailing, we can arrange it for you. Two places are still available for the Express Day Skipper course from 11th July and there will be time after the theory course on Saturday to head to Indian Summer Night, a colourful Bollywood style Dance and Fashion show with a buffet dinner, in aid of children in need and Autism support group.

We welcomed back instructor Amanda who is still teaching people to sail “with style and panache”. After a year in the Caribbean, teaching continuously, she brings more experience to RYA courses.

For anyone looking for a Professional qualification, there are still a couple of places available for the autumn Fast Track to Yachtmaster Offshore or Coastal courses from 23rd August. It is an excellent time of year to capitalise on the comfortable late summer weather which cools gently to a balmy 20 degrees just before Christmas. The first interviews for flotilla jobs with our partner companies in Croatia, Greece and Turkey are in December and January so perfect timing. A new qualification and a guaranteed job!

Quote of the month

“I just wanted to thank you and all at Rock for a truly life-defining, hugely enjoyable and informative Day Skipper Course.

The four days of ‘classroom’ theory, while undeniably fast-paced and challenging, (which I guess is why it’s called the ‘Fast Track programme!’) were made fun and applicable by yours and Hayley’s delivery, enthusiasm and real-life stories, and the venue was excellent.

As for the five days of sailing….well we couldn’t have asked for a more professional, patient and capable Instructor than Tony, a rare creature who exuded confidence and capability at all times and who expertly drew the best from all of us with his clear guidance and explanatory manner while ensuring the lessons were fun and, most importantly, would not move on to the next step until he was satisfied that we completely understood the relevance and importance of each point. Oh and he made it fun too, for which I can’t thank him enough!

So thanks again Carrie for a wonderful experience and I wish you, Peter, Tony and all at Rock every success in the future.”
