October 2014 News from ROCK Sailing

Autumn temperatures are still in the 20s in October making it a great month for sailing. We still have limited availability for the October school holiday weeks at the end of the month for Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses or a family charter. We are running Yachtmaster Prep courses the weeks of 13th and 27th October for those of you who aspire to the gold standard sailing qualification.

October 21st is Trafalgar Day, marking the day in which Britain triumphed in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This historic marine conflict was fought just up the road off the Cape of Trafalgar. The Battle of Trafalgar made Lord Horatio Nelson one of Britain’s most famous war heroes. As Admiral in the Navy, he led our British fleet to victory; a fleet then being composed of warships built from wood, powered by sails and armed with cannons.

Quote of the month

“A short note to say a very big thank you for our Express Day Skipper experience! Tracy and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learnt so much thanks to your expert tuition! We are looking forward to putting it all into practice on our next charter, which, with our shiny new ICC’s, will now be much easier to arrange!”
